As a mentor, you will be the primary point of contact for your mentee(s) and support them in their goals and aspirations. Specifically, you will do the following:
Work with your mentee(s) to develop goals for them to aspire towards over the mentorship time period (e.g. applying for scholarships, making a personal website, securing an internship).
Meet with your mentee(s) regularly (e.g. every 2 weeks or every month) to discuss their progress and keep them on track.
Offer advice and resources to your mentees (e.g. how to be successful in interviews or how to ask for letters of recommendation).
As a mentor, you have the opportunity to positively impact the intellectual development and pursuits of students in underprivileged communities who may otherwise lack such positive influences. In doing so, you directly contribute to increasing representation of these students in the field of computer science and pushing them to reach their maximum potential, all for a relatively low time commitment. Mentors like you are who make Fractal possible, and we thank you for your dedication to uplifting brilliant young minds.
